Linux Key Commands

This is a list of the keyboards commands I find most usefull linux as a desktop environment. Some of these come from custom config files, but most of them are the defaults for the respective programs.

XFree86

n to go to virtual console number n
to kill X

Sawfish Window Manager

x maximizes
arrow-keys to move windows
k to cycle between open windows

middle click on blank desktop to get menu

F2 to open xterm
F5 to open browser
F6 for office

Ion Window Manager

F2 to open xterm
F4 to ssh to a machine
F5 to open a browser

kk to flip between current windows
n to go to next window
p to go to previous window

Console

n to go to virtual console number n

Phoenix Browser

d to jump to address bar
type google your query here to search from the address bar
type a / then a word to find the word on the page. g to find next match.
type a word to find that word in links on the page. g to find next match
space for page-down
to go back
to move to a different tab
on a link to open in new tab
t to open a new blank tab and go to the address bar
w to close tab/window
